About Me

Hey you! I'm Krisanna: wife, teacher, and yorkie mom. My hobby is napping, and when I have free time, I love to read, craft, and travel. I also love connecting and would love to hear from you!

My deep love of learning fuels my passion for teaching. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary English Education. I also have a Master's of Science in college student personnel. Being the perpetual student that I am, I'm working on a master's degree in reading right now and plan to finish that in the Spring of 2019.

My best friend, and husband, is Jonathan. We've known each other since I was 12, so I guess you could say we go way back. We've been married for six years now and live near our hometown. We love spending time together, trying new things, and visiting new places.
Random things about me:
1. I'm saved by the grace of God and the blood of my Savior, nothing more. Because of this, I enjoy studying my Bible through Bible journaling.
2. I met my husband when I was 12. He's my best friend.
3. I'm a #yorkiemom for life.
4. I love to travel. My next trip is booked for Portland, OR. I can't wait.
5. I'm a snowcone addict!
6. I'm the baby of five.
7. I'm a professional napper. Seriously. I nap almost every single day. Anything less than an hour is just dozing.
8. I've been using flexible seating for three years now, and I love it!
9. I'm a goofball in the classroom: relationship first, everything else second #topdogteaching.
10. I have four tattoos and love all of them. I'd probably have a ton more if I wasn't a teacher. :)

My teaching story:
My first year of teaching, I taught at a small 2A (approximately 200 students 7-12). It was a 7 period day. I taught 9th grade English girls, 9th grade English boys, 10th grade English boys, Journalism, EAST, and Enrichment. It was a whirlwind year for sure. I told my husband that I never wanted to teach again, so I started my first master's in January. My current principal told me to try teaching for one more year somewhere else. He told me that he knew that I was an amazing teacher and that not every school district is the same. I followed his advice and applied elsewhere. I got the job.

My second year, I moved switched schools to teach at a 4A school (approximately 400 students 9-12) that was over an hour from my house. I drove 63 miles, one way, each day. It was an awesome job though. I learned so much about myself and about teaching that year. This was the year that I fell in love with teaching all over again.

At the end of that year, I got a phone call to interview at my Alma Mater where I had put in an application two years prior. I got the job, and I've been there since then. At my current 4A school, I've taught test prep, English 10, and English 11. This year, I'll teach English 10, Advanced English 10, and Pre-AP English 11. I've served on lots of committees and signed up for lots of sponsor positions and whatnot, but this year, I'm taking a break from all that to focus on my grad work.

I love teaching and can't imagine doing something else. I get the best of both worlds since teaching is my career, my passion, and my hobby. I enjoy it so much.
I'm excited about the upcoming school year, and can't wait to see what it holds. I'd love to hear from you! What do you teach? Where do you teach? Do you have something I can help you with? I'm always up for connecting with other teachers! I look forward to hearing from you!
